Error:
In order to upgrade this version of Windows, you must run Setup in MS-DOS Mode.
Cause:
This error occurs when running Windows Setup from within Windows 95. Setup determines that the Plug and Play device
BIOS on the computer is not supported. Since Setup cannot disable Plug and Play BIOS from within Windows 95, the user is prompted to run Setup from DOS.
Solution:
Exit Setup and run it from the MS-DOS prompt or from an earlier version of Windows..
Run Windows 95 setup from the MS-DOS prompt:
1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu and select 'Shut Down...'. (The 'Shut Down Windows' dialog box appears.)
2) Select the 'Restart the Computer in MS-DOS Mode' radio button and click 'Yes'.
3) When the computer has rebooted in DOS mode, type the following at the prompt and press ENTER to start setup:
X:\SETUP
(where 'X:' represents the drive containing the Windows 95 CD-ROM or installation diskettes).
NOTE: Contact the computer manufacturer for an updated BIOS.
